Originally written by Charles Perrault, George Colman, the Younger adapted this well-known French folktale into an English play in the late 18th Century. This blog website is based on the second edition published by Thomas Woodfall. There are two acts in this edition. Adapted by many artists, this French Folktale was made into theatre plays, music, movies, poetry, and television since it’s first publishing in 1697.
